Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is physical therapy?
A: Physical therapy is care that is designed to ease pain and improve function, movement, and quality of life performed by a licensed physical therapist. People of all ages benefit from physical therapy and it is used to treat a large variety of injuries and health problems. Many times physical therapy prevents the need for surgery and/or prescription medications.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: We welcome everybody to our clinic whether you have insurance or not. Dr. Chelsea is an out-of-network provider for all insurance policies. We will gladly provide you with a Superbill that can be submitted for reimbursement to your insurance company.
Insurance contracts dictate what treatment is allowed and how many times you can be seen. Thrive Physical Therapy values patients first and foremost, and prioritizes their care. We don’t want insurance deciding how you should be treated, and neither should you. We can’t wait for you to experience the benefits of direct access to physical therapy!
Dr. Chelsea offers a free 15-minute consultation to answer questions and see if this is the right clinic for you. Call 913-754-0700 to schedule.
Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: We require that all charges be paid for at the time of service. We accept HSA, cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and debit cards.
If you have an FSA, or Health Share, you will need to self-pay at the time of service, and we will provide a Superbill to submit to your FSA or Health Share for reimbursement.
Q: Do I need a referral from a physician?
A: Kansas is a direct access state which means you do NOT need a referral from a doctor.
Patients that participate in direct access have been able to enjoy some of the perks that come with seeing a physical therapist first. These include:
• Avoiding long wait times and expensive testing
• Better outcomes and higher satisfaction levels
• Pain relief without the dependency on Opioids
• Reducing or removing the need for surgery
Q: Who benefits from physical therapy?
A: The short answer is that physical therapy benefits everyone. The goal of physical therapy is to improve your quality of life, so anyone who wants to improve their quality of life through movement is a candidate for physical therapy.
Q: What should I wear to my appointment?
A: We recommend you wear something easy to move in and comfortable.
Q: How is pain management at Thrive Physical Therapy different from other pain management clinics?
A: First and foremost, physical therapists do not prescribe medication. Medication may manage the pain but doesn’t treat the cause of the pain. Physical therapy focuses on retraining your body in order to treat the pain. Dr. Chelsea educates you about what is happening in your body, why it is happening, and how to fix it. She gives you the tools to independently manage pain now and in your future so you don’t have to rely on healthcare providers or prescription medication.
