Chronic pain is defined as any pain that lasts 6 months or longer. That includes pain in a specific location or generalized pain throughout the body. Dr. Chelsea is an expert in treating chronic pain and has spent her career furthering her knowledge of how it affects the body and how to treat it more efficiently. She focuses on retraining your body in order to treat the pain while giving you tools to independently manage your pain now and in the future. The goal is for you to not have to rely on healthcare providers to help you for the rest of your life.
Complex case management
Many medical conditions have a long list of symptoms that put stress on the body. Physical therapy may not treat the medical diagnosis, but it can help manage symptoms and improve overall function through stress management, activity adaptation, exercise, and manual therapy. Dr. Chelsea excels at understanding your case and using a variety of approaches and tools to improve your quality of life when battling any health condition.
Concussion care
A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury, which can occur with or without a direct blow to the head and/or body, and may or may not result in loss of consciousness. As a concussion specialist, Dr. Chelsea will help you to return to all activities safely, including gradually returning to playing sports.

Manual therapy
Manual therapy is a specialized physical therapy method that utilizes specific, hands-on techniques to therapeutically assess and treat your soft tissue and joints. It is used to reduce pain and inflammation, improve tissue and joint mobility, increase blood flow, and enhance your overall ability to move. Dr. Chelsea includes manual therapy in every patient’s treatment plan.
Myofascia is connective tissue that makes up the tough membranes that wrap, connect and support your muscles. This tissue can become tight, which can cause pain and restricted movement. Myofascial release is a manual therapy technique used to decrease tissue tension and increase blood flow and mobility to the affected tissues.
Pain management
Pelvic pain and incontinence management
Everyone has a pelvic floor that is made up of muscles that support the urinary and reproductive tracts. This group of muscles controls your bladder and bowels. At any age, these muscles can sometimes carry too much tension, become weakened, or don’t activate properly, which can lead to pain, incontinence, and/or difficulty with intercourse. Physical therapy for the pelvic floor includes a variety of treatments that can help relieve symptoms like pain, discomfort, and disruptions to your quality of life. Dr. Chelsea strongly encourages all pregnant women to participate in pelvic floor physical therapy pre- and postnatally to prepare for and fully recover from childbirth.
Post-operative recovery
Dr. Chelsea believes all orthopedic surgeries (operations on the hip, knee, shoulder, wrist, hand, neck, foot, ankle, and spine) benefit from physical therapy both before and after the procedure. Other surgeries, such as organ transplants, reproductive, and brain, will also benefit from postoperative physical therapy.
